You can generate a supporting transaction detail report for any foreign property MTD ITSA quarterly return. This report shows the underlying transactions that make up the figures in your HMRC submission.
How to access the report
- Go to General Ledger > MTD ITSA.
- Ensure you are viewing a UK business with MTD ITSA enabled and Foreign Property selected.
- Locate the relevant Foreign Property quarterly return in the submissions list.
- Click on the Dropdown for that submission.
- Click Print.
The report will open in a new browser tab/window as a PDF preview, where you can print it or save it as a PDF.
The Print option is available for Draft, Submitted, and Accepted submissions.
How the report is populated
When you click Print, BrightBooks automatically uses the details from that submission to populate the report parameters:
- Tax Year
- Quarter (Q1, Q2, Q3, or Q4)
-
Quarter Type
- Standard Tax Year Quarters, or
- Calendar Year Quarters
-
Date Range
- Calculated from the Tax Year, Quarter, and Quarter Type.
Quarter date ranges
If the submission uses Standard Tax Year Quarters, the date ranges are:
- Q1: 06/04 – 05/07
- Q2: 06/07 – 05/10
- Q3: 06/10 – 05/01
- Q4: 06/01 – 05/04

- Q2: 01/07 – 30/09
- Q3: 01/10 – 31/12
- Q4: 01/01 – 31/03
These dates define the period of transactions included in the report.

The report is split into a header and a summary section, followed by the detailed transaction listing.

- Submission details (Tax Year, Quarter, Status, Quarter Type) are taken directly from the MTD ITSA submission record.
- The foreign property report template is separate from the Self‑Employed and UK Property variants, but follows the same general pattern and inline menu behaviour.
