Understanding Bank Feed Colours and Rules in BrightBooks
When you load a bank feed in BrightBooks, each transaction line is highlighted in a colour. These colours show whether the transaction is ready to import and how it has been treated.
1. What the colours mean
Green
- The transaction has been fully matched:
- It’s linked to the correct customer or supplier, and
- It’s allocated to an outstanding invoice.
- Green lines are ready to import.
Amber / Orange
- The transaction has a valid nominal code, but it is a non‑customer/supplier transaction.
Examples include:- Wages or salaries
- Bank charges
- General business expenses
- There is no customer or supplier allocation, and that is expected for these types of items.
- Amber/orange lines can be imported once the coding is correct.
Red
- There are still outstanding actions before the transaction can be imported.
- Common reasons include:
- No nominal code selected
- Missing required details (for example, VAT code or other mandatory fields)
- Red lines cannot be imported until the missing information is completed and the status changes to amber or green.
