Accessing the Balance Sheet Report (Settings and Limitations)
You can run a Balance Sheet to view period-end balances for assets, liabilities, and equity.
How to find it
- Go to Reports > General Ledger > Balance Sheet.
Configuring the report
- Use the Advanced/Settings panel within the report to adjust what’s shown. Only the options visible in this panel are available. Common options include:
- As-of date or period
- Comparative columns (prior period/year)
- Include or exclude zero-balance accounts
- Level of detail or account rollup
Tips for accurate results
- Set the as-of date to the last day of the period you want.
- Make sure all entries for the period are posted. Unposted drafts/journals typically won’t appear.
- If balances look unexpected, run a Trial Balance or General Ledger Detail for the same date to trace the accounts contributing to each line.
Exporting and alternatives
- Use the report’s export options to download to PDF or Excel/CSV.
- The Balance Sheet is a summary view. For creditors/debtors aging or detail, use Accounts Payable/Receivable reports. For underlying transactions, use General Ledger Detail or Trial Balance.
