1. Where credit terms are stored
Credit terms are mainly controlled in:
- Customer record – holds the default payment/credit terms for that customer (for example, 30 days).
To change a customer’s ongoing terms, you update the customer record.
2. Changing default credit terms on a customer
To update a customer’s standard credit terms:
- Open the customer record
- Go to your list of Customers.
- Select the customer whose terms you want to change.
- Edit the customer
- Click Edit on the customer record.
- Find the field(s) for credit terms.
- Update the terms
- Change the value to the new terms you want (for example, from 14 days to 30 days).
- Save the customer record.
From now on, new invoices for that customer will use the updated terms as their default, depending on how your invoice setup is configured.
3. Making sure terms appear on the invoice document
If you want customers to clearly see the credit terms:
- Check your invoice/print template:
- Ensure there is a field or text area that shows payment terms or due date.
- Add or adjust this field so the terms are visible on printed/PDF invoices.
6. Practical tips
- Use the customer record to set their usual credit terms so new invoices are consistent.
- Avoid changing terms on locked invoices; focus on future invoices and corrections instead.
- Make sure your templates display the terms or due date so customers know when payment is due.
